The Tema Ghana Stake YSA Monthly Devotional held yesterday was a meaningful evening of connection, reflection, and spiritual learning as young single adults had the opportunity to interact with President Stephen Abu Jr. and openly share their experiences, questions, and concerns.
President Abu Jr. connected deeply with the YSAs by sharing experiences from his own life and using those experiences to encourage them to strengthen their relationship with Heavenly Father. He emphasized the importance of seeking God personally, especially when facing uncertainty, challenges, or important decisions in life.
He encouraged the YSAs to speak up about their concerns, questions, and thoughts. Rather than keeping challenges to themselves, he urged them to seek understanding, ask questions, and create opportunities for meaningful conversations that can help them grow spiritually and personally.
The discussion also touched on the realities of everyday life. President Abu Jr. encouraged the YSAs to look at their daily experiences through a spiritual lens and continually seek ways to draw closer to God. He reminded them that their faith should influence not only their worship but also the way they approach their education, careers, relationships, communities, and personal challenges.
One of the key messages of the evening was the importance of creating opportunities and becoming problem-solvers rather than spectators. President Abu Jr. encouraged the YSAs to look around their communities and identify ways they can make a difference. President Abu Jr. also took time to express his appreciation for his counselors and the High Council. Preparing Our Hearts for Conference
President Stephen Abu Jr. also encouraged the YSAs to begin preparing themselves spiritually for General Conference and Stake Conference. He reminded them that the blessings of conference are not only found in attending the sessions, but also in how prepared we are to receive the messages.
He encouraged the YSAs to pray for guidance, study the scriptures, reflect on their lives, and identify questions or concerns they would like answers to. Rather than simply listening to conference as another event, they were encouraged to approach it with purpose and an open heart, seeking to understand what Heavenly Father wants them to learn.
He also encouraged them to take the messages they receive and act on them. Conference can be a time to receive personal direction, make meaningful commitments, strengthen faith, and identify areas where we can improve.
For the YSAs, preparing for conference can be as simple as setting aside time to pray, reducing distractions, studying the scriptures, inviting the Spirit into their homes, and coming ready to listen.
Prepare your heart. Come with questions. Listen with faith. Act on what you receive.
Overall, the devotional was an uplifting and memorable evening. Beyond the counsel shared, it provided an opportunity for the YSAs and Stake leadership to listen to one another, learn from each other, and strengthen their connection.
